The politics of opposition to Indian culture will no longer work, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said on Thursday as he hit out at opposition parties for dividing people along castes and communities.
He alleged that opposition leaders, who were previously against the country’s culture, are now wearing ‘ January‘ (sacred thread) on their clothes, visiting temples and reciting Hanuman Chalisa, as he credited the BJP with bringing about this change over the past five years.
The top BJP leader held public programs in Lakhimpur and Shravasti districts, mobilizing support for party candidates. Voting will take place in Lakhimpur on February 23 and in Shravasti on February 27.
Mr. Sharma accused the opposition Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party of dividing people along caste and communal lines.
“Today some opposition leaders are wearing January on their clothes and also announce their “gotras”. They ring the temple bells and also recite Hanuman Chalisa.
“Previously, these parties worked to create differences between people by opposing the culture of India, but their filthy politics will no longer work,” he added.
With the time change, Uttar Pradesh has completely changed in the past five years, he said, adding that previous political parties fought against elections, but this time people are fighting against the polls on behalf of the BJP.
He predicted a bigger victory for his party than in 2017 and said opposition parties will also not be able to hit the triple digit figure, even together.
