“A well-informed and better-informed society should be our common goal, let’s all work together for that,” Prime Minister Modi said.
Amid global criticism and allegations of media silencing in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that Indian-language journalism has played a key role in tradition, culture, the struggle for freedom and the development path.
Modi, during the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Agradoot newspaper group, said that Assam had played a key role in the development of language journalism in India, as the state was a very dynamic place in the journalism perspective.
Journalism started 150 years ago in the Assamese language and has gone from strength to strength over time, he added.
The Prime Minister said that when there is dialogue, there is a solution. It is through dialogue that the possibilities expand.
Therefore, along with the flow of knowledge in Indian democracy, the flow of information also flows continuously. Agradoot is part of that tradition, he said.
Modi said the positive role played by our media in campaigns like the Swachh Bharat Mission is appreciated across the country and around the world even today. “Similarly, you can become a participant in the country’s resolutions in the Amrit Mahotsav,” he said.
“A well-informed and better-informed society should be our common goal, let’s all work together for this,” the Prime Minister concluded.
