New Delhi [India]Jan. 10 (ANI): Marking World Hindi Day, Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi said on Monday that Hindi is a language of peace and love which has contributed to the expansion of Indian culture and traditions around the world.
The Ministry of External Affairs celebrated World Hindi Day virtually on Monday and the program was chaired by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Lekhi mentioned the measures taken by the ministry to promote the study of Hindi abroad.
“Hindi is a language of peace and love. Hindi has also contributed to the spread of Indian culture and tradition across the world,” she said.
The Union Minister said that the government has established about 50 chairs, including 13 Hindi chairs, at overseas universities to promote Indian languages, culture and studies. She added that the Hindi language is taught in over 670 educational institutions in over 100 countries.
Sending his best wishes for World Hindi Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Hindi plays an important role in communicating our knowledge and culture due to its simplicity and ease of language . The increasing use of Hindi in the field of information technology and its popularity among young people articulate a bright future for the language.
World Hindi Day is celebrated on January 10 every year to promote the language worldwide. (ANI)
