The A&D coordinator works under the supervision of the Tribal Health Director. The Alcohol and Drug coordinator must understand the Indian Health Services and understand the Resource and Patient Management System for data entry. In addition, the A&D coordinator must know and understand Indian community issues, what substances are being abused or have been brought to the CTGR.  Children and Families are key to working with the A&D coordinator.

The practice of traditional beliefs is another concept of working in the A&D office; we Indian people use prayers, smudging, and ceremony in our life and to seeking help for ourselves.

The A&D coordinator must be self motivated, creative and seek presenters for special seminars or presentations. Finding new and interesting ways to educate the minds of the community with preventative activities such as interventions and helping outpatients with detoxification, treatment planning. relapse prevention and after care, The A&D coordinator arranges group sessions or activities, counseling services, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Working with youth and adults bi-weekly by providing educational meetings or preventative activities.

The coordinator must be discreet and confidential with case management, crisis intervention, and data monitoring while maintaining knowledge of comprehensive treatment planning.
